Your Higher Self

With respect to fear, the more afraid we become, the more limited our ability to see and think and the more scary things seem. Over a lifetime it is easy to become stuck in this point of view and never pull one’s self back far enough to see the big picture. It is critical to be able to see things from a higher level, especially when we get scared.

The problems we face today are not the same as the problems we faced 300 years ago. Our problems are more complicated and require a bigger picture perspective. The higher self refers to the part of you that sees the bigger picture while the lower self refers to the part of you that only sees the emergency, the drama or the hopelessness. In this mindset almost any action can be justifiable. For example, if you are being chased by an ax-wielding aggressor you would have no problem stealing a car to get away. The fearful mind, the fearful self is the lower self. It is reactionary and can justify actions thought impossible when in other clearer mental states.

Be aware and choose beneficially. Assign what state of mind is in control. For many people it is the weakest version of themselves, the most frightened and the most compulsive part of their nature that they often assign control. Managing one’s self is very much like managing a group of people. If you let the compulsive person lead, there will be wide swings in productivity and too little consistency to achieve long lasting results in anything. If the frightened person leads, then the group will be forever running away from, and never running toward the goal.

Taking charge of this part of your humanity is a huge factor in stabilizing and controlling your results.
