Your Life is Like the Flow of Water From a Hose

by Michael Berry on September 19, 2014

images-15Consider your life as a continual flow of water coming out of a hose. Your thoughts, beliefs, choices and actions are like a hose that determines the direction of the water spray. As you think, choose and act, you are directing the water flow of your life.

So if you want the water to move in a certain direction, you need to point the flow in that direction.

The water you direct can’t spray in a different direction unless you change the heading of the hose. It would be foolishness to think that the water flow would simply change direction by itself! Or that it would unexpectedly turn a corner without first being diverted in that direction! The fact is, the force of water will always flow in the same direction until something interrupts the current flow and diverts it in a new direction.

So it is with your life.

You change the flow by changing your thoughts, beliefs, choices and actions into the direction of the accomplishments you want to achieve in your life. And, as you point these efforts directly at your desired outcome, you will notice a dramatic increase in your personal satisfaction and productivity.

What would it take for you to be at cause for everything in your life? To actually take responsibility for everything that is happening in your life right now? By how you feel, what you think, how you speak, what you believe, what you choose, how you act, how diligently you follow through, and how you handle what you attract (both good and it’s adverse).

Every step in this process is meaningful. The good news is the changes you implement can make a difference very quickly for you. Even if the initial result seems to be chaos, you can see that by pursuing new beliefs things will indeed change, even in unpredictable ways at first. But keep at it!

Personal development is our business and our life.

In personal development we learn that “we all see and experience the world not as it is, but as we are”.
